Norway Trip Easter 2007
by Clare Coghill & Iona MacKinnon
Earlier this term our third year Gàidhlig class were lucky enough to be involved in a European language exchange project. A group of 20 from Sami Land, Norway came over to Skye to stay with PHS families for ten days.
Just like us, the Sami People have their own language, culture and traditional dress. They received a great welcome on their trip over here and we had great fun together and we learned a lot from them.
We will be going across to Norway in March/April this year to stay with our new friends and to teach them more about Gaelic and about Skye. They have many exciting activities such as snowboarding, snowmobiling, skiing and ice fishing planned for us. We can hardly wait, although the temperature will be at least –20 degrees below. Brrrrrrrrrr!
