Portree High School has a long and distinguished history of which it is very proud.

In this section, we focus on the history of the school, from the earliest days of formal education in Skye right up to the recent past. Four Centuries of Schooling in Portree and District The earliest known school in Skye was the grammar school founded in 1651 at Duntulm by Sir James Mòr Macdonald.
